Rolex Submariner Watches

The Submariner is the dive watch every other dive watch is measured against: a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown with Triplock gasket, and water resistance to 300 metres since the 1980s. It is also the Rolex that most clearly shows its generation, from matte-dial vintage pieces with gilt or white printing to the glossy ceramic Cerachrom bezels of the current 126610 line. Introduced in 1953, the Submariner has been made in 40 mm through 2020 and 41 mm from the 2020 generation; vintage pieces measure 40 mm, powered by caliber 3135 (date) and 3130 (no-date) in the five- and six-digit era, calibers 3235 and 3230 from 2020.

The references you will see most often here are the no-date 14060 and 114060, the 16610 and 16613 with aluminium bezels, the ceramic 116610LN, 116610LV "Hulk" and 116613LB, and the current 124060, 126610LN, 126610LV and 126613. What is the difference between the Submariner and Submariner Date?

The Submariner Date adds a date window with a Cyclops lens at three o'clock and, on current models, a slightly different caliber (3235 rather than 3230). The no-date Submariner has a cleaner, symmetrical dial and is only made in steel. Both share the same case, bezel and bracelet.
