Patek Philippe patented the annual calendar in 1996 with the 5035, a mechanism that tracks months of 30 and 31 days and only needs correcting once a year, at the end of February. It sits between a simple date and a perpetual calendar in complexity and has become one of the house's signature complications. Introduced in 1996, the Annual Calendar has been made in 37 to 42 mm depending on reference; the 5146 is 39 mm, the 5205 is 40 mm, the 5396 is 38.5 mm, powered by calibers 315 S QA, 324 S QA LU and 26-330 S QA LU, all self-winding.

The references you will see most often here are the 5035 original, the 5146 with moonphase and power reserve, the 5205 with its wide apertures, the 5396 inspired by the 1940s, and the Nautilus 5726 and Aquanaut 5261.
