Why This Watch

The Cosmograph Daytona is a racing chronograph with a tachymetric bezel, three registers and the longest waiting lists in watchmaking. The in-house caliber 4130 of 2000 made it a modern reference point for chronograph reliability, and the 2023 update to the 4131 refined the case and bezel without changing the proportions. Introduced in 1963, the Daytona has been made in 40 mm across every generation, powered by Zenith-based caliber 4030 (1988 to 2000), in-house caliber 4130 (2000 to 2023) and caliber 4131 from 2023.

The references you will see most often here are the 16520 and 16523 Zenith-era pieces, the 116520 and 116523, the ceramic-bezel 116500LN, the gold 116508 and 116505, the Oysterflex 116518LN and 116519LN, and the current 126500LN, 126508 and 126518LN.
