Why This Watch

The Overseas is Vacheron Constantin's travel sports watch, with a bezel shaped from the Maltese cross of the house's emblem and a bracelet of half-Maltese-cross links. The 2016 generation introduced in-house movements and a quick-change system that ships each watch with a bracelet, a leather strap and a rubber strap. Introduced in 1996, the Overseas has been made in 41 mm for the Self-Winding and Dual Time, 42.5 mm for the Chronograph, 35 mm for the ladies' Self-Winding, 34.5 mm earlier, powered by in-house calibers 5100 (automatic), 5200 (chronograph), 5110 DT (dual time) and 1120 QP (perpetual calendar).

The references you will see most often here are the 42040 and 47040 second generation, the 4500V Self-Winding, the 5500V Chronograph, the 7900V Dual Time, and the ultra-thin 2000V and perpetual 4300V.
